Since 2004, Bryan from Creative Images Photography has been producing high-quality portraits for families and professionals in Christchurch and around New Zealand.

Based in Christchurch and run by Master Photographer Bryan Isbister, Creative Images Photography specialises in photographing families, children and pets in a natural setting. For timeless images that tell a meaningful story, Bryan believes there's nothing like getting the whole family in their element - playing, relaxing and enjoying each other's company.

Bryan combines the artistry and skill of an award winning, qualified photographer with a relaxed attitude that helps you forget that the camera is even there. He specialises in using the natural environment as your backdrop - so that usually means a trip to one of our many local beaches, hills, rivers or parks. Photographing New Zealand native birds is the other part of the business, and Bryan has a large selection of native bird images available to purchase as framed wall art and smaller gift prints. These are in stock and on display at the studio, and also at Hapa at The Tannery and Tait Gallery in Hamner Springs

A personal consultation at the studio

A bespoke family portrait photography session on location or at the studio

A second appointment within a few days of the session for viewing the images and purchasing your chosen portraits

Collection of your finished artwork - wall art, gift prints or albums

The Consultation

I like to meet with you at the studio before you book - not being strangers at your portrait session will help ensure that I capture fantastic images for you! You can tell me a little about yourselves, and chat about what you would like to end up with. We will also talk about clothing so that everything comes together on the day. Of course you'll also see all the collections, display options and pricing when you visit

Booking Confirmation

If you are happy with what you see and decide to go ahead a $200 creative fee is required to confirm your booking. This goes towards my time and photography expertise. You then choose and pay for each image that you wish to keep at the viewing/ordering appointment. The total you invest will depend on the sizing, presentation and number of portraits that you choose so this is different for everyone. You will however get a good understanding of the likely amount at the consultation

I also offer print collections and pre-purchase options for your finished portraits which give you bonus prints - the more you pre-pay the more bonus prints you receive. The choice is yours, and full details are available at the studio when you visit

The Portrait Session

We will have already planned the day so that we have a great location organised - plus you'll know what to wear from the consultation and we will have talked about the perfect images for you. So at your family portrait session all you need to do is have a fantastic time together and I'll capture it! Make sure that you allow up to 1.5 hours so that you aren't in a hurry to get away - and leave your phones in the car so you can focus on family. It's all about enjoying yourselves and creating special memories

Getting ready for your viewing and Ordering appointment

The viewing appointment is when you view the images and complete your portrait order, so it is important that all decision-makers attend. Deciding which images to keep and which to leave behind can be a tricky thing! Allow plenty of time for this so that you can make unhurried choices (1-1.5 hours is a good guide)

It can be really helpful to take some photos of the areas in your home where you are planning to display your portraits, just a few pics on your phone will do! It's also worth measuring those walls so that we can choose frame sizes that best suit the room

If you have young children we recommend that you arrange for a babysitter so that you enjoy the viewing experience and ordering process without distractions
